Jake Epstein Profile of the Month: Extended

We forgot to remind you guys that the deadline for Jake Epstein's Profile of the Month questions was last Friday, so we're extending it until this Friday, Oct 30th, 2009. We got a lot of great questions, many of which repeated each other, but there's still time for a really creative question to rise to the top of the pile. Go to this post and submit your question in the comments:

Dear Jake- Love you by the way~~ So back in the day when you were on Degrassi (which I am obsessed with ever since they put it on MTV and I am 21 is that sad??). I was wondering my fav love interest was Ellie but who was your fav girlfriend on Degrassi??

What was the character building process like when you were in rehearsals for Spring Awakening?

I know you got your start in musical theater, do you prefer it over television?

Anonymous said...

You are known for playing characters that are plagued with deep issues... what draws you to these types of characters?

Meg said...

How is the character you play in Spring Awakening similar to or different from the character you played on Degrassi? Do you prefer one over the other?

Amelia said...

Was it at all intimidating to be the only newcomer when you joined the cast(as opposed to the more recent newbies, who came in one large group)?

Meg said...

Who did you try out for in Glee? I saw you in the casting video? :) You would be wicked in that

k.emily said...

what are you being for halloween?

Anonymous said...

Definitely make sure to have a Hot Minute!

Do you ever feel insulted by or dislike fans seeming to be more interested in your other work(like the crazy number of degrassi fans) than the show? I'm not sure if that would be seen as a positive or a negative, but one of the times that I was at the stage door in D.C., a huge group of girls came up asking for autographs because they "love craig so much"!

Jake, if you could star in any musical, which would you choose and what character would you play ?

Anonymous said...

If you could have dinner with any celebrity, dead or alive, who would it be?

Anonymous said...

Do you consider yourself a celebrity?

Anonymous said...

Have you ever had a Spring Awakening related dream? If so, please elaborate :D

Anonymous said...

What's the wackiest food you have ever tried?

Do you consider yourself as: daring or cautious, silly or serious, energetic or calm, outgoing or introverted?

If someone asked you "Who is Jake Epstein?" what would you say to them?

Assuming you always get recognized when walking down the streets, do you sometimes wish you could be a normal person who just blends into the crowd?

Anonymous said...

do fans sometimes creep you out?

What city on the tour has been your favorite thus far?

Bradey said...

Hey Jake,
I don't really know much about you, me not being a degrassi fan and such. But my friend Christina is and she is practically in love with you (in a fan and not creepy way.) For all of us guilty ones across the nation who have yet to see you yet, can you sing something for us so we can get to know and love you and be really excited for when we get to see you on the show. It can be anything! Even happy birthday or the itsy bitsy spider.

Having been a fan of yours since your first appearance on Degrassi and having met you twice at Degrassi events in NY, I was completely ecstatic when you joined the show I had fallen so in love with, Spring Awakening. I've had a lot of trouble phrasing this question the best way possible but here it is. Has it been difficult for you to break away from being the "Craig Manning" people saw on television to becoming "Melchior Gabor" on stage and yet also staying true to "Jake Epstein" when you leave the theatre?

All the best,
Sarah Kaufman

As most everyone else who has posed a question, I am a big admirer and really appreciate your work and musical talent. I saw the show in January when Kyle was playing Melchi still, and I must admit that I teared up massively whenever I read that he was no longer in the show, but squealed with shock and excitement to see who his replacement was. I am so anxious to see you in the show, but it won't be near me until March so I wonder: do you have plans to stay on with Spring Awakening for a while? What other things would you like to do in your future (theatrically, musically, film, life in general, etc.)? What advice do you have for a theatrical actor who wants to transition and incorporate passion into profession?
Thank you and I hope to see your work in the show!
Break a leg!

If you could give everyone in the cast a superpower that best fit their personality what would they be and why?

Everyone's talking about Degrassi this, or Degrassi that, is that annoying? Personally I find it annoying, but do you?

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How can I send fan mail to the cast?

If you just want to send a quick note to all the cast members telling them you appreciate their work, you can email us here at totallytruckedblog (at) gmail (dot) com. I will be happy to forward your email to the cast, but to preserve their privacy, it is unlikely they will email you back (I will, though).

You can also send individual performers fan mail and care packages care of the theatre at which we are currently performing or will be performing. Go to the theatre's website (listed above), find their mailing address, write the actor's name as well as "Spring Awakening" and send c/o the theatre. Remember, we are often at these theatres for only a week so make sure to allow for delivery times. It's a better bet to send it to the theatre we will be going to next as they can always hold packages for us until we arrive. Letters received late will not be forwarded to our next location.

2. How Can I Audition for Spring Awakening?
From time to time, we have open calls in larger cities across the US. We will post any additional open calls here. Subscribe if you havn't already to keep informed. In the meantime, we've made it easy for you to submit yourself singing a folk/alternative rock song on video. Go to: http://www.springawakening.com/videoauditionsubmission/ Make sure your submission is less than 500 MB and is one of the accepted formats. Your screen should change and you should get a confirmation that says your submission has been received. Trust us, people are called in this way. Lucas Wells was cast because of an online submission!

3. How Do I Score On Stage Seats?
That is really up to the individual theatres. Most of them won't release the seats until just before performances because they want to make sure the house is sold first. Some do so online, although the ticketing systems they have in place often can't accommodate our unique seats onstage. Most of them are available only at the box office (though you can purchase them for a performance in the future). The Guilty Ones Street Team members have the rights to purchase these seats before the general public. Any seats left over will be released to the box office and may also be purchased as part of rush tickets (discounted, day-of tickets).

4. How Do I Join The Guilty Ones?

The National Guilty Ones Street Team is a way for fans of the show in each of our tour stops to help us spread the word. You will get access to parties, meet and greets, and other special events while meeting new friends who share your passion for the show, all while gaining some valuable marketing experience. You must be at least 15 yrs old. Email your contact info to nationalguiltyones (at) gmail (dot) com.

5. Can I Get Discounts?

From time to time, a theatre may offer us discounts to send out to our fans. We will post any here on the blog. Subscribe now!

6. Who runs this site? This site was created for fans to stay connected with our touring cast and follow their adventures around North America. Ideally, it would be in the voice of the cast members. Unfortunately, our cast members are often too tired or busy to post lengthy blog posts on a regular basis. Company members will contribute a post from time to time and every month we will have a compiled blog post that most every company member will participate in. The other stuff like updates, etc, will be posted by me. My name is Pun. I work for the production, love this show, its cast, and our fans, and I'm so very glad you're here!
