Reminder: We need everyone to vote!

We are so honored that TotallyTrucked was nominated for Best Brand Use of YouTube, but now comes the hard part. It's an extremely competitive category and it's looking like the web series "Internet Killed Television" is ekeing us out as of this posting.

We KNOW we can win this. In this season of thanks, the best thing you can do to thank the cast for creating these videos and to help promote Spring Awakening is to vote EVERY DAY for us. We need everyone to do this! It just takes a second.

Voting ends DECEMBER 13, 2009!

Videos from Spring Awakening Cabaret in LA

Spring Awakening Tour: Gender Bending Medley
Our wonderful cast pulled together their talents to put on a very special cabaret at the Upright Cabaret in Los Angeles to benefit Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids (BC/EFA). Titled "Boys Will Be Girls Will Be Boys," this gender bending mash-up of SA tunes has our Bitch boys taking a stab at "Mama Who Bore Me" and "My Junk" while our girls do a truly amazing rendition of "Touch Me." Check it out!

The cabaret featured many other gender-bending songs from musical theatre and contemporary pop culture. Obviously, we can't feature all of the videos, but thank you to these California-based fans who recorded and uploaded vids to share with fans who weren't able to make it. You can check 'em out on their channels:

And to all of our SA fans, we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with good friends and family. We are thankful for your continued support and love for our little show!

New Video: Tomorrow I'm Bringing Scissors!!

"Tomorrow, I'm Bringing Scissors!"
The orders came swiftly and precisely from Herr Direktor Michael Mayer himself: Ilse's asymmetrical bob is SO 2008 and it must indeed go! As some have already noticed, Steffi D has gone even-steven with her once iconic hair bob--imitated by many. She documented the surgery in this week's vid. The hair has seen many a city and Steffi D has learned to adore the do over the last 3 years, but 'tis time for a change. Could she now be mistaken for a french/dutch/school boy? We don't think so, but sound out below!

Spring Awakening Reviews in Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa has been treating us like rock stars with a truly glitzy party at Sports Club/LA this past Thursday. Jenna Ushkowitz from Glee and Skylar Astin (both from the Broadway cast) were also in the house that night:

Jenna and Skylar!

Steffi D and Taylor Trensch performed at the Bloomingdale's promotion and signed posters. Here is a video from the performance featuring a mini interview with Taylor's mom!

and a photo of the poster signing: SouthCoast Plaza Performance and Signing

More Photos from Bloomingdale's here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ocpac/sets/72157622720229891/

We received terrific reviews with more to come! Here is my favorite quote from this batch; it's from BroadwayWorld:

"...one of the most soul-stirring, beautifully-scored, creatively innovative musicals to have come out of Broadway in the past few years...Some may say that this is "a musical only for young people," which is the exact type of dismissive phrase that the play is trying to warn against. On the contrary, SPRING AWAKENING suggests—as it is sung in the show's final song—to "listen to what's in the heart of a child.""

Orange County Register:

Taylor Trensch is entertaining and persuasive in the role of Moritz...[he] also finds ways to make the character lovable...Jake Epstein's Melchoir is the self-confident alpha dog whose exterior conceals a mass of insecurities. When Wendla draws him into a torture game, Epstein makes the moment seem truly heartrending for his character....Wendla could easily seem like little more than a naïve victim, but Christy Altomare gives her satisfying complexity."

OC Arts and Culture:

"The weight of it all didn’t hit me until it was all over. It’s different from many musicals in the sense that it makes you think–most have you check your brain at the door, which isn’t a bad thing, sometimes it’s nice to just sit and watch fluff, but let it be known this isn’t that–this is a night where you’re going to look back at your own teenage years, whether that was yesterday or 40 years ago, whether it be fond remembrance or relief that they’re over with."

We are in Costa Mesa until Nov 29th only! Make sure your friends know they can't miss us! Buy tickets here: http://bit.ly/SpringAwakening

Cast Halloween Photos

Well, you've shared your Spring Awakening Halloween costumes with us, so we thought we'd show you some of ours! (The winner of the Halloween costume contest will be announced in an upcoming TotallyTrucked video, by the way).

After preparing for Halloween week by going to the House of Torment and seeing "Paranormal Activity," the cast decided to throw themselves a big ol' party at the Sainte Claire Hotel in San Jose! Can you find in the following pictures: 1) A Chair of Rock, 2) Dora the Explorer, 3) a Shark, 4) Lady Gaga, 5) Steffi D, 6) a Sainte Claire Fitness Club Guest, 7) Facebook, 8) The Cat in the Hat, 9) the murderer(s) from Scream and 10) a Snuggie Blanket? Spring Awakening Tour: Paranormal Activity

The whisper is that Paranormal Activity is the scariest movie ever made...but is that all marketing hype?? While in San Jose, our fearless cast members, not satisfied with their visit to the House of Torment, steeled themselves for a frightful night at the movies--Kayla's first horror movie ever! The evening started innocently enough with a friendly debate: What's the ultimate candy of choice for a night at the movies - Swedish Fish, Milk Duds, or Sour Patch Kids? The laughter soon turned to true terror, however, as the lights dimmed. Watch how the movie scared the bejesus out of our cast and how some well-meaning fans fed into their paranoia on the walk back to the hotel! Hilarious! Check out another scarefest Halloween celebration.

Spring Awakening Tour: Jam Session
A few bus rides and tour stops back, one of Andy's favorite rock bands, Kings of Leon, happened to land in the same town - Kansas City. So Christy Altomare turned his frown upside down and went unplugged, conducting a KOL tribute jam session of "Use Somebody" with Andy. Check out this beautiful rendition of a great tune.

"I hear that train a-coming, it's coming round the bend." The famous Johnny Cash song "Folsom Prison Blues" takes its title and storyline from the nearby correctional facility, where Cash performed.

The refrain was "Is Sacramento Ready for Spring Awakening?" Oh please [head slam].

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How can I send fan mail to the cast?

If you just want to send a quick note to all the cast members telling them you appreciate their work, you can email us here at totallytruckedblog (at) gmail (dot) com. I will be happy to forward your email to the cast, but to preserve their privacy, it is unlikely they will email you back (I will, though).

You can also send individual performers fan mail and care packages care of the theatre at which we are currently performing or will be performing. Go to the theatre's website (listed above), find their mailing address, write the actor's name as well as "Spring Awakening" and send c/o the theatre. Remember, we are often at these theatres for only a week so make sure to allow for delivery times. It's a better bet to send it to the theatre we will be going to next as they can always hold packages for us until we arrive. Letters received late will not be forwarded to our next location.

2. How Can I Audition for Spring Awakening?
From time to time, we have open calls in larger cities across the US. We will post any additional open calls here. Subscribe if you havn't already to keep informed. In the meantime, we've made it easy for you to submit yourself singing a folk/alternative rock song on video. Go to: http://www.springawakening.com/videoauditionsubmission/ Make sure your submission is less than 500 MB and is one of the accepted formats. Your screen should change and you should get a confirmation that says your submission has been received. Trust us, people are called in this way. Lucas Wells was cast because of an online submission!

3. How Do I Score On Stage Seats?
That is really up to the individual theatres. Most of them won't release the seats until just before performances because they want to make sure the house is sold first. Some do so online, although the ticketing systems they have in place often can't accommodate our unique seats onstage. Most of them are available only at the box office (though you can purchase them for a performance in the future). The Guilty Ones Street Team members have the rights to purchase these seats before the general public. Any seats left over will be released to the box office and may also be purchased as part of rush tickets (discounted, day-of tickets).

4. How Do I Join The Guilty Ones?

The National Guilty Ones Street Team is a way for fans of the show in each of our tour stops to help us spread the word. You will get access to parties, meet and greets, and other special events while meeting new friends who share your passion for the show, all while gaining some valuable marketing experience. You must be at least 15 yrs old. Email your contact info to nationalguiltyones (at) gmail (dot) com.

5. Can I Get Discounts?

From time to time, a theatre may offer us discounts to send out to our fans. We will post any here on the blog. Subscribe now!

6. Who runs this site? This site was created for fans to stay connected with our touring cast and follow their adventures around North America. Ideally, it would be in the voice of the cast members. Unfortunately, our cast members are often too tired or busy to post lengthy blog posts on a regular basis. Company members will contribute a post from time to time and every month we will have a compiled blog post that most every company member will participate in. The other stuff like updates, etc, will be posted by me. My name is Pun. I work for the production, love this show, its cast, and our fans, and I'm so very glad you're here!
