This press release was just sent out, hot off the presses:
Canadian Kyle Riabko returns
to “Spring Awakening” on April 14
TORONTO (April 7, 2009) – The producers of “Spring Awakening” announced today that Saskatoon native and Toronto resident Kyle Riabko will return to “Spring Awakening” on April 14. Riabko plays the role of Melchior Gabor in the touring production of this eight-time Tony Award®-winning Broadway musical, which is playing Toronto’s Canon Theatre through April 19. After leaving Toronto, the show will continue on its North American tour (for a complete list of tour cities, visit www.SpringAwakening.com). Riabko had taken a short leave of absence from the show to shoot a television pilot for ABC.
KYLE RIABKO
Riabko, 21, joined the touring cast after debuting as Melchior on Broadway in May 2008. In addition, he has released a full-length record on Columbia and opened with performers such as John Mayer, Maroon 5, BB King and others. Riabko’s debut album, “The Parkdale Sessions,” is currently available. Prior to joining the Spring Awakening cast, Riabko starred as Milo in the Canadian hit "Instant Star" from the creators of “Degrassi: The Next Generation.” Additional information is available at his Web site at www.kyleriabko.com
“SPRING AWAKENING”
Set against the backdrop of a repressive and provincial late 19th century Germany, “Spring Awakening” tells the story of adolescent self-discovery and budding sexuality as seen through the eyes of three teenagers – Melchior, Moritz and Wendla. In a haunting and provocative story, “Spring Awakening” celebrates the journey from youth to adulthood.
Based on the 1891 Frank Wedekind play, “Spring Awakening” features an rock-inspired score by Duncan Sheik, book and lyrics by Steven Sater, direction by Michael Mayer and choreography by the award-winning Bill T. Jones.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How can I send fan mail to the cast?
If you just want to send a quick note to all the cast members telling them you appreciate their work, you can email us here at totallytruckedblog (at) gmail (dot) com. I will be happy to forward your email to the cast, but to preserve their privacy, it is unlikely they will email you back (I will, though).
You can also send individual performers fan mail and care packages care of the theatre at which we are currently performing or will be performing. Go to the theatre's website (listed above), find their mailing address, write the actor's name as well as "Spring Awakening" and send c/o the theatre. Remember, we are often at these theatres for only a week so make sure to allow for delivery times. It's a better bet to send it to the theatre we will be going to next as they can always hold packages for us until we arrive. Letters received late will not be forwarded to our next location.
2. How Can I Audition for Spring Awakening?
From time to time, we have open calls in larger cities across the US. We will post any additional open calls here. Subscribe if you havn't already to keep informed. In the meantime, we've made it easy for you to submit yourself singing a folk/alternative rock song on video. Go to: http://www.springawakening.com/videoauditionsubmission/ Make sure your submission is less than 500 MB and is one of the accepted formats. Your screen should change and you should get a confirmation that says your submission has been received. Trust us, people are called in this way. Lucas Wells was cast because of an online submission!
3. How Do I Score On Stage Seats?
That is really up to the individual theatres. Most of them won't release the seats until just before performances because they want to make sure the house is sold first. Some do so online, although the ticketing systems they have in place often can't accommodate our unique seats onstage. Most of them are available only at the box office (though you can purchase them for a performance in the future). The Guilty Ones Street Team members have the rights to purchase these seats before the general public. Any seats left over will be released to the box office and may also be purchased as part of rush tickets (discounted, day-of tickets).
4. How Do I Join The Guilty Ones?
The National Guilty Ones Street Team is a way for fans of the show in each of our tour stops to help us spread the word. You will get access to parties, meet and greets, and other special events while meeting new friends who share your passion for the show, all while gaining some valuable marketing experience. You must be at least 15 yrs old. Email your contact info to nationalguiltyones (at) gmail (dot) com.
5. Can I Get Discounts?
From time to time, a theatre may offer us discounts to send out to our fans. We will post any here on the blog. Subscribe now!
6. Who runs this site? This site was created for fans to stay connected with our touring cast and follow their adventures around North America. Ideally, it would be in the voice of the cast members. Unfortunately, our cast members are often too tired or busy to post lengthy blog posts on a regular basis. Company members will contribute a post from time to time and every month we will have a compiled blog post that most every company member will participate in. The other stuff like updates, etc, will be posted by me. My name is Pun. I work for the production, love this show, its cast, and our fans, and I'm so very glad you're here!

YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! AHHHH I have been waiting for something like this to get posted! I cannot wait until he comes back. I love Doyle and everything but I miss Kyle! So happy that he will be able to do a few shows in Toronto seeing as how it's the only stop in Canada. I am a very proud Canadian, but unfortunately I live in Brandon Manitoba and Toronto would be a looooong drive for me to see the show. But it doesn't matter if I can see it there or not. I'm just happy for Kyle to be coming back!!!!! :D
POR QUEEEEE!!!!?!?!?!?!?!!?!??!!?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Worst melchior EVER.
I'm torn. Me encanta Matt Doyle! :D <3
and I love Kyle Riabko too. I don't know whether to be happy or sad. I guess I could be both though.
Glad to hear Kyle's coming back--Sad to see Matt Doyle leaving.
Well, if you plan it right, you can see both in Toronto! Both are awesome and you can't go wrong.
I've seen both (Matt on BW and Kyle on tour) and they are both awesome!!!!!! I'm so happy Canada will get to see kyle too. Toronto is so lucky!!!! To see both is a good reason to take a road trip to Canada.(:
Yay, Kyle is back! I've missed him in the TotallyTrucked videos.
I'd have liked to see Matt, too (heard great things about him) but at least I know it'll be Kyle/Christy's "Word of Your Body" (my favorite combo!) Only 17 more days for me!
I am sooo happy! I bought tickets at the end of the run JUST TO SEE KYLE! I was crushed when I heard he wasnt gonna be there. GOOD NEWS!
:)
Now I'm torn, I was going to go see Dog Sees God on the 18th for their last run as but now I really want to see Riabko's Melchior. I can't be in Toronto any other day than the 18th and now I have to make a big decision.
Lol, I love how a bio for Kyle and a mini summary of the setting/story of Spring Awakening are included when we all pretty much have the whole thing memorized.
I've only seen Kyle when you guys came to ASU Gammage in Arizona and I thought he was fantastic. Wish I could see them both so I could compare.
Will Kyle be in Philly???????
Im glad Kyle will be back with you all. i am sure you have missed him. I think before Matt leaves we need to have another video with him. maybe a special edition of Profile of the month (if kyle or Steffi doesn't mind sharing) or even just a extended hot minute. Not may tour people know much about our temp cast member, and all of the Broadway ones miss seeing his smiling face.. just a thought
Ha Ha Ryan, I know, that info is kinda redundant in this forum, but I just copied and pasted the press release, which assumes the audience knows nothing about us.
Anonymous: As of right now, yes, we have no reason to suspect otherwise.
Anonymous: Matt will be featured in a few upcoming vids, no worries. Not a profile of the month (he already answered fan's questions on the fansite when he was on Broadway), but you'll be seeing him, no worries. Check back tomorrow for an awesome pic of him a professional photographer took that you will want to blow up to poster-size if you could...
Whoops, did I say tomorrow? I meant Tuesday. We got somethin' else planned for tomorrow's blog post...
Well, I've seen Perry Sherman (tour understudy) and Matt Doyle (twice) in Toronto (plus Jonathan Groff on Broadway). And now you're making me go back *again* to see Kyle Riabko. You sneaky Spring Awakening tour people, tempting Torontonians with multitudinous Melchiors...
