We had to say goodbye to our musical director, Jared Stein, who has been with us since the start of the tour. Kristen Lee Rosenfeld has stepped up to the plate and she rocks! You can listen to one of her original songs on Lucas' YouTube channel (linked in the callout for his Profile of the Month below). Charity Wicks (who did our show on Broadway) steps in as associate conductor. Here's a picture of our awesome band at Jared's going away party two weeks ago. So much love:

DID YOU KNOW? Schenectady was originally inhabited by Mohawk Indians. They called the settlement "Schau-naugh-ta-da," which meant "over the pine plains.

REVIEWS
SCHENECTADY GAZETTE A rave! "In front of a truly enthusiastic audience on Tuesday night, the Tony Award-winning rock musical “Spring Awakening” charged onto the stage at Proctors, providing theatergoers a magnificent production of a provocative and daring modern musical." http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2010/feb/18/0218_spawreview/
TIMES UNION: This guy didn't like that the music didn't match the world of the play (haha), but still thought it was "a brilliant production." hmmm http://blog.timesunion.com/reviews/spring-awakening-proctors-21710/1774/
METROLAND: "With its blue language, brief nudity and simulated sex, Spring Awakening is a remarkably risque staging for this area; but its good heart, tasteful and clever staging, and universally high quality of singing talent easily won over, and held, the crowd." http://www.metroland.net/theater.html
NIPPERTOWN: "Part theatre, part rock concert!" http://www.nippertown.com/2010/02/18/theater-spring-awakening-proctors
ALBANY ACTING EXAMINER: "This show was an experience, one which made me cry and squirm and laugh and soar. There are only five more days to see Spring Awakening at Proctors- you won't want to miss it!"

WORKING MOTHERS EXAMINER: "In addition to being about self-discovery, the show also sounds a call for better parenting, more education in the areas of body awareness and sexuality, and the need for parents to respect and accept their children for who they are." http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-28949-Albany-Working-Moms-Examiner~y2010m2d17-Spring-Awakening-challenges-parents-and-teens-to-face-tough-topics

One of us LOVES Spring Awakening.
Follow us! :)
I hope you guys are finding things to do around the Albany/Schenectady/Saratoga area while you're here, I know it's not the most exciting place in the world to be! If you want ideas or places to check out, I grew up in the area and currently am in grad school at UAlbany and could def point you in the right direction. Saw the show itself for the first time ever opening night at Proctors, and then cancelled plans with friends the night after to see it again, absolutely love the music! Thanks for coming to the area!
