Frequently Asked Questions
1. How can I send fan mail to the cast?
If you just want to send a quick note to all the cast members telling them you appreciate their work, you can email us here at totallytruckedblog (at) gmail (dot) com. I will be happy to forward your email to the cast, but to preserve their privacy, it is unlikely they will email you back (I will, though).
You can also send individual performers fan mail and care packages care of the theatre at which we are currently performing or will be performing. Go to the theatre's website (listed above), find their mailing address, write the actor's name as well as "Spring Awakening" and send c/o the theatre. Remember, we are often at these theatres for only a week so make sure to allow for delivery times. It's a better bet to send it to the theatre we will be going to next as they can always hold packages for us until we arrive. Letters received late will not be forwarded to our next location.
2. How Can I Audition for Spring Awakening?
From time to time, we have open calls in larger cities across the US. We will post any additional open calls here. Subscribe if you havn't already to keep informed. In the meantime, we've made it easy for you to submit yourself singing a folk/alternative rock song on video. Go to: http://www.springawakening.com/videoauditionsubmission/ Make sure your submission is less than 500 MB and is one of the accepted formats. Your screen should change and you should get a confirmation that says your submission has been received. Trust us, people are called in this way. Lucas Wells was cast because of an online submission!
3. How Do I Score On Stage Seats?
That is really up to the individual theatres. Most of them won't release the seats until just before performances because they want to make sure the house is sold first. Some do so online, although the ticketing systems they have in place often can't accommodate our unique seats onstage. Most of them are available only at the box office (though you can purchase them for a performance in the future). The Guilty Ones Street Team members have the rights to purchase these seats before the general public. Any seats left over will be released to the box office and may also be purchased as part of rush tickets (discounted, day-of tickets).
4. How Do I Join The Guilty Ones?
The National Guilty Ones Street Team is a way for fans of the show in each of our tour stops to help us spread the word. You will get access to parties, meet and greets, and other special events while meeting new friends who share your passion for the show, all while gaining some valuable marketing experience. You must be at least 15 yrs old. Email your contact info to nationalguiltyones (at) gmail (dot) com.
5. Can I Get Discounts?
From time to time, a theatre may offer us discounts to send out to our fans. We will post any here on the blog. Subscribe now!
6. Who runs this site? This site was created for fans to stay connected with our touring cast and follow their adventures around North America. Ideally, it would be in the voice of the cast members. Unfortunately, our cast members are often too tired or busy to post lengthy blog posts on a regular basis. Company members will contribute a post from time to time and every month we will have a compiled blog post that most every company member will participate in. The other stuff like updates, etc, will be posted by me. My name is Pun. I work for the production, love this show, its cast, and our fans, and I'm so very glad you're here!

Question: Would it be acceptable to sing a number from Sprng Awakening itself?
It is not advised. Nor should you sing a rock song from any other musical. They may ask you to sing or prepare a song from the show during a callback, but they are really looking for alternative/pop songs.
Hey!
I'm a male singer, non-equity, but will do whatever it takes to get to audition. I know in the FAQ it said to arrive a couple hours early, so do you think it would be smart to just get there at like 8 or 9 am? Or is that just for the female singers? I don't mind having to wait...hell, if I have to, I'll get in line two days earlier lol, I just really want to make sure I can secure an audition spot.
Also, I was just wondering what the basic process is for this kind of an audition.
Is it just singing or will I be asked to read lines? Also, what kind of accompaniment is there? Just piano, or would you be allowed to also accompany yourself/play guitar? Oh and for the song, are you supposed to do a full song or just 8 or 16 bars or something?
Oh yeah and, (last question, I promise! haha), so this is for the tour right? But isn't the tour already cast and in progress? So is this for another touring production or are they just hiring new people? I mean, if someone gets cast for it, when would that person begin?
Thanks for answering, and also thank you (or whoever is responsible for the open calls! lol) so much for this opportunity! This is my absolute dream. I've decided that I'm pretty much not going to be leaving my apartment for the next days until the audition, I'm just going into vocal boot camp! X-)
Tahnks!
Mike Harlow
I noticed that you said the song genre doesn't really matter, as long as it shows off your voice...
I have two songs I really like for my auditions; one of them is a Sublime song (so I guess that would be ska) and a pop song. The pop song shows off my voice a lot better, but the Sublime song is more suited to alternative/rock. Which would be best for me to use?
Mike--Obviously I can't guarantee this, but I think 8-9 am would be plenty early.
Audition is just singing. Piano is preferred 1) because they want to see if you can follow someone else leading the music and 2) they don't care how great a guitar player you are, they want to see your face, not you looking down at the frets. That being said, if you showed up with only a guitar, they would probably let you play it, you should just know that not having sheet music makes you look unprofessional.
This is for replacements for the tour. When the person would start will depend on who we have to replace and when they leave. G'luck!
Daikenkai--always go for the song that shows your voice off better.
I am 16 going on 17 amle. I would like to think that I'm very mature and bright. Is there any way that we could work out maybe doing correspondence(with school) and having a parent come on tour with us. I completely understand the whole 18+ thing, but is there maybe some sort of exception that could be made? I honestly think I have the talent and professionalism required for this tour.

Good luck to everyone auditioning! If there is a non equity audition I am there.
Is there a deadline for auditions submited online? I would love to be concidered for this selection of people who are auditioning during the open call. Is there a date or time I should submit that?
When might one be notified if they get a callback?
I would also like to know about the age limit thing because I am sixteen going on seventeen (no pun intended) myself. My e-mail is dance.jessica.sing@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance!
I was wondering ifthe directors would hold audition in that particular tour situation during certain circumstances?!!! I am currently in Saint Louis and would feel honored to have the opportunity to audition for the show!
Thank you!!!

Regarding the online auditions:
Have you ever called anyone in for a live audition from their online submission? I'm just curious if that has happened. Thanks.
Aaron and Psychopathic--unfortunately, you must be 18 to tour. No exceptions to this rule.
Alyssa--there is currently no deadline and we continue to accept video submissions on a rolling basis.
Anonymous--You might be called in for a callback once we have an idea of cast members we need to replace. Most contracts are for a year so callbacks will heat up in early summer if the current cast does not opt to extend.
Michelle--there are currently no plans to have multiple open calls coinciding with tour stops. It is more probable that we will have regional open calls so that people will travel to the closest audition city such as NY, LA, Chicago, etc.
I have heard that there will be a non equity tour replacing the current Sring Awakening tour after May. How Can I audition for this? And how does one know when/where auditions will be held? Thanks so much.
Yes, Anonymous, there will be a non union tour. We are not organizing it, so I havn't been given any info on it, but undoubtedly, they will post audition info and we'll be sure to post it on this blog.
I would love to be in the non-union tour, but am only 16. However, I could complete school online easily, and would love at least the chance to audition. Would I be considered too young?
