Class Assignment: Valentines Day Playlist

Class Assignment: What's Your Favorite Love Song?

In honor of Valentine's Day, we asked the Spring Awakening company for their favorite love song--or song that expressed how they feel about love. If you're planning on creating a playlist or burning a CD for your loved one, here are some songs you should consider. Feel free to share and embed this playlist. Let us know what you think of the company's selections. Did we turn you on to a new singer? Do you share the same musical taste as one of the cast members? Share YOUR favorite song with us. Let us know in the comments section below. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Freddy Hall:
"The Luckiest" by Ben Folds and, hands down, "I'll make love to you" Boyz 2 Men, these two songs would be on repeat when someone special is over and we're...eating...

Pinky Weitzman: Shares a love song from her band, Not Waving But Drowning. The lyrics are killer:

There're birds erupting
Flying from my chest
And when I burn to nothing
There'll be nothing left

And then I will be free
Of all these useless dreams
And all I have to do
Is burn alive without you

Great Songs! I, like Jake, am also a little confused by valentines day. I don't get the idea of it. There is no valentines day, like, event or anything. it's confusing... Good luck at the show tonight! :)

Aww... I love Freddy's choice of 'The Luckiest'! That was the song my sister and her hubby first danced to at their wedding. Such a sweet song!

Not surprised that the Avett Brothers were on the list but c'mon guys, no Duncan Sheik? ;)
['Home' is a personal fave of mine.]

Irene, that's so weird that Guam would block playlist.com...mebbe it's a code issue. Can you see and click the playlist when you go to its direct url? http://www.playlist.com/playlist/19213391371

Tammy, that's so cool! Thanks for sharing. And yes, it goes without saying that Duncan is one of our favorites!

Shell, I'm not familiar with Patrick Nuo--thanks for the rec!

I'm glad She & Him was mentioned. One of my favorites has to be Green Eyes by Coldplay. I was kind of surprised no one mentioned them. They have sooo many amazing love songs.

I love Sarah's choice. That song played during my friend's proposal to his now wife. My friend proposed on top of a bluff looking over the Pacific Palisades beach here in California. The best part of the proposal - he had all of our friends and her family, on the beach standing by where he spelt "Marry Me?" in candles on the beach. Kinda funny as the wind kept blowing them out throughout the time we waited. He said right when he got on one knee and had her look over the bluff, she could see her brother and the rest of us running back and forth trying to keep the candles lit since we couldn't see them above us in the dark.

I love Kayla and Steffi's choices. Boats and Birds by Gregory and the Hawk has been one of my favorite songs for years and years. I actually chose that song to be played during my slow dances at my 18th birthday party.

My favorite songs have to be Sea of Love by Cat Power, These Arms by Matt Costa, and Say Yes by Elliott Smith.

My favourite love songs are "Collide" by Howie Day (especially the acoustic version) and "I'll Stand By You" by The Pretenders. Another favourite is "Bed of Roses" by Bon Jovi and "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith.

Irene, I know it's a pain the reprise wasn't included. I don't know of anywhere you can get it officially, but perhaps this guy might: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2NV8SxEP1Q

Thanks for all the recommendations, guys!
