Hey Bloggers!
Dropping a line to say hello to everyone! San Diego has been amazing thus far and very busy! We have been working non stop since we got here and finally opened on Wednesday! It has been a truly amazing and enriching experience. I have a confession to make, the first time time we sang "Song of Purple Summer" and the lights came up on us to take our bow, I was a mess. I don't think I can adequately describe how amazing and overwhelming it was to stand there and see all these people in the audience clapping and standing for us! Over the rehearsal process I think I forgot about how every night we get to share and go on this amazing journey with an audience. I am so lucky and very fortunate! So if you see my grinning from ear to ear or crying during curtain call, you know why!!!!!
XOXO,
Gabby

HI Tour and Gabby.
I completely feel your post. There have only been a few pieces of music or performance that have made me smile and cry at the same time: The last movement of the Mahler Second, "The Origin of Love" from Hedwig. "Comfortably Numb" from the Wall.
Last night, sitting on stage, I was moved many times, but yeah, during Purple Summer. I was teared up, listening to the wonderful playing of the band: the strings and you all singing.
And all of you coming together. And smiling. The adults, after being so stern smiling at the children and each other... everyone walking towards one another. Then Melchior and Moritz seeing each other again and grinning ear to ear and embracing. And all of you singing and moving so gracefully.
Yes, I was both - tearing and smiling.
Priceless.
Thanks to ALL of you for all of your work and giving us all the chance to shade our summer with your wonderful "Purple".
Best, Randy
"Song of Purple Summer" is one of the best songs in the world, I think that the music is so cool because many bands are made spectacular music like this song!22dd
